The employment agency aims to provide opportunities for people to undertake casual roles within the Council, gaining work experience, skills, training and knowledge to contribute to people’s long term goals.
Sometimes the Council needs casual staff, so we have our own in-house employment agency to support the many services we deliver. We provide short-term cover across the Council for holiday periods and other leave. Placements can range from one day to up to ten months.
Although placements are not permanent, this is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on skills and experience which can contribute to your longer term employability.
General council roles
We cover a variety of roles at hourly rates of pay in line with permanent staff including:
- Administration/clerical staff;
- Early years;
- Cooks /kitchen assistants/centre assistants/cleaners;
- Bar staff;
- Refuse workers/drivers;
- Social care workers.

School casual support staff
We also offer a recruitment service to fulfill the casual support staff needed by schools and may be able to offer placements for:
- Welfare assistants;
- Site supervisors;
- Kitchen staff;
- Teaching assistants.
Qualified teacher status must be held in order to work in our schools.
All applicants will be expected to undertake a fully enhanced CRB and must be registered with the GTC.
